AWARE NGO

-John Bunyan
Mission : To work for reducing animal suffering , spread compassion and awareness about animal and environmental issues.
Vision : To foster support for making the planet a safe haven for all life forms and curb non eco-friendly activities.
We have been working with animals on streets since 2012. Along with conducting anti rabies vaccination camps, we initiated a program to sterilize stray dogs in Indore city. Our goal was to reduce the plight of the strays through sterilization, vaccination and spreading awareness about the issue. Our continuous hard work of thirty -two months showed results when the Indore Muncipal Corporation adopted the sterilization and vaccination program on mass scale. At the same time, the brutal and illegal method of catching stray dogs with help of killer tongs was put to an end. Instead a more humane method of using nets and the necessary training to use them was provided by AWARE to IMC for catching strays. We discourage dislocation of stray dogs.
Spreading awareness has been the most important agenda and focus of our group. We counsel people in sensitive and stressful areas, as and when needed. We encourage the commoners from all walks of life to look after stray dogs once they are sterilized. We have filed FIR against people who have indulged or participated in cruelty against these voiceless animals.
One major long-term goal and challenge is to get stray pups adopted. So far we have succeeded in getting 104 stray pups adopted. We put in relentless effort to take care of accidental and sick cases. The Collector of Indore has supported for our cause by allocating a transit shelter in the center of the city specially for treating sick and injured stray animals.
